Southern Equine Connection

 Shelby Reine, age 12, from LaPlace, Louisiana, and her horse Intrinsic Ability aka “Walter”, recently competed in the Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championships in Tunica, Mississippi and took home the blue ribbon and the Gold Medal as the Grand Champions in 18 and under reining class.  4-H members from 13 southern states had to qualify at both the district and state levels in order to compete in this Championship Horse Show. 

Shelby and “Walter” were also the Grand Champions in the 13 and under Reining classes at the 4-H district show in Baton Rouge, LA and the Louisiana State 4-H Horse Show in Monroe, LA.  Only the first place rider in each division is allowed to advance and compete in the 4-H Regional Championship Show. Shelby represented both St. John Parish and the state of Louisiana in this competition.  She is a 7^th grader at St. Joan of Arc School and the daughter of Michael and Alisha H. Reine.
