AQHA’s New Greener Pastures Program
AQHA has started a new program to help the our older quarter horses as they age. The Greener Pastures program unites previous owners with horses they owned at one time. Through the program, AQHA members will be able to indicate on a horse’s registration certificate that if the horse ever becomes unwanted, unusable or ready for retirement, the member will – if possible – assist in providing or finding a suitable home.
For anyone that has ever owned and loved a show horse that was sold this program is wonderful. Sometimes as horses become old and debilitated owners lose interest in them. But this can be a time when the horse actually needs extra help. With this program the owner can choose to let the horse go back to a previous owner that has indicated a desire to care for their old riding/show partner.
