Dressage is now an AQHA approved event
Starting January 1, 2010 Dressage is an AQHA approved event for Open, Amateur and Youth divisions. Points can be earned for ROM awards, Incentive Fund and year end high point awards. Since dressage is scored by percentage, AQHA has devised a conversion method to convert the percentage score into points.
For now the classes will not be held at AQHA shows but rather at USEF/USDF licensed competitions. If you want to see AQHA classes at your USEF/USDF show you will have to contact your show secretary and request AQHA classes. An application 60 days in advance must be submitted to AQHA.
There is a competition license fee of $85.00 (per horse) that has to be paid to AQHA in order to compete. Of course the horse has to be registered with AQHA and the exhibitor has to be a member.
There are many great facilities in the deep south that specialize in the dressage discipline. There are some really nice facilities and several Dressage organizations in Mississippi.
